My son has long been fascinated with the toilet and one can only guess when his fascination will fade. It started out with the day we realized we could no longer leave the lid up, as that was apparently an open invitation for a splash fest in the can of germs.
It then naturally progressed to him being obsessed with any opportunity to sneak a peak inside. Translation: I can barely sit my rear on the seat before four little hands are using my pants and legs to pull themselves up to see if they can get inside the toilet. Yes, Keira shares her brother's interest, just not to the same extent.
Since we've restricted their access to the toilet, they've had to settle for using it at a stabilizer for standing and one sweet drum. I still have black marks on the seat to clean from them banging who knows what on the seat.
Most days they've been quite content with their lot, but I've wondered, how long until they figure out what that little handle does, or how the lid opens, or what happens when they put something in the toilet and then flush it. Well, today I got one of my answers. After a few minutes of playing with the handle he actually flushed the toilet. He didn't really react much, but just kept playing with the handle. Once the water had stopped running, he managed to flush it again. He was very entertained, which means I was able to get a bit of primping done. Okay, who am I kidding? I don't really get to primp anymore, it's really just basic hygiene, but some days it can feel like primping.
So now the question is, do I try to teach him to not flush the toilet repeatedly, or do I just let it go? I'm thinking we're not going to make this one a battle for now. If it is being flushed several times a day, I'll rethink it my strategy. On the other hand this could be my new strategy. Maybe I'll just stop flushing and wait until he needs some new entertainment. ;)

Chuckling out loud. :) You describe the scene so well. I have no wisdom here...it's a toss up. We're working on curbing the 6X repeat flush pattern with Courtney in attempts to keep the water bill down. But for now it sounds like you've got a baby occupier--and you've got to take 'em when they come, right?! ;)
