28 Week Appointment

Yesterday we went in for our 28 week appointment. Here are the details...

Ultrasound
These babes are still just as cute and as healthy as can be! Baby A is weighing in at 3 lbs, 2oz and Baby B is weighing in at 3 lbs even. According to the staff, they each are bigger than a singleton would normally be at this point. I blame their 10 lb 2 oz father and Thanksgiving for this. This is great news for their health, especially if they were to come earlier than desired.

Their heart rates continue to be about 10 beats a minute apart from one another. I don't remember what rate went with what baby, but one was in the 130's and the other was in the 140's. They tell me this is good.

Baby A is currently breech and Baby B is currently vertex. They've got plenty of time to move yet, but if Baby A isn't vertex at go time, we're having a c-section, so it would be nice if they got their act together :) I think my favorite part of the ultrasound was being able to actually see their faces and catching one of them yawning. Joey thought they looked a bit alien-like, but I saw nothing but a cute little face. I guess those mother's eyes are already kicking in!

The Glucose Challenge
I'm definitely a sweet tooth, but wow, that was a bit over the top for my liking! I was glad to have 5 minutes to drink it all! The nurse called back this morning and said I did great, so I'm thankful to not have to go back for a second round of the orange drink! I don't know much about hemoglobin levels, but I was also told those were great. I was at a 12.1 which is great for a single pregnancy and excellent for twins - cool!

My Belly
I don't have the picture uploaded yet, but Joey did take one yesterday, so I'll work on getting that up here soon. The midwife measured my belly and I'm coming in at a lovely 35cm, or as she said, 8 and 1/2 months pregnant! Yikes! If only I WAS that far along!

Lastly, here are three pictures from our ultrasound. For the second picture(Baby A), your face will line up with the baby's face if you tilt your head to the left. The face is to the left of the black blob in the top right of the picture. In the third picture (Baby B), you'll want to tilt your head to the right.

Time to start praying that your babies don't follow in their father's footsteps, poundage-wise! Aunt Kelly hardly ever got bigger than 35 cm at full term. Great job on the iron level! I struggle to keep mine over 11, always have. Expect delivery in late February and you'll be surprised how much quicker the actual date comes. Can't wait!!!

Awww, cute! What is it with guys and the alien simile?!:)
And goodness, I hope those babies are huge! There should be a perk to having twins and that's small babies for easier delivery! And we'll be praying for NO C-section!
